🌟 Guest Speaker Spotlight! 🌟 Mrs. Cindy Marzen's AP Biology class had the incredible opportunity to hear from Hannah McAlpin, a Tift County High School graduate who's making major waves in the world of science! 🧬✨ At just 23 years old, Hannah is: 🔬 The youngest person in the country to hold a genetic research patent without a doctorate 👩‍🔬 Only one of three females to ever apply for a patent in this field of research 🎓 A molecular geneticist (or very close to it!) 📚 About to begin a double master’s program at Johns Hopkins University 💡 Completed groundbreaking research at Auburn University that’s currently under FDA review 🧪 Actively working on a clinical trial focused on pediatric leukemia 🏅 Recipient of the National Research Award from the state of Alabama 🌟 Named one of Science Atlantic’s "Top 100 to Watch in Research" for 2025 What an inspiring visit from someone who's proving that big dreams really can start in small towns. 🚨 Tift County CTI Students Gain Valuable Job Readiness Skills! 🚨 Tift County CTI students had an awesome time learning important Job Readiness Skills! They dove into self-advocacy, work-based learning, teamwork, and safety on the job site. Our students also got hands-on experience with proper PPE and safety protocols. The students received valuable training on using power tools and mastering the art of reading a tape measure correctly! 📏🔧 In addition, our students learned the "dos and don’ts" of interviews, a skill that will be essential as they move forward in their careers. This training is so important for their future education and career goals, and we want to give a huge thank you to Mr. Vernon Atkinson and Ms. Kimmie for sharing their expertise with us. A special shoutout to Ms. Angela Manders with High School High Tech for organizing this fantastic opportunity!
