When Georgia Reads, Georgia Thrives.

Strong readers help build stronger schools, families and communities—and local libraries help make reading possible for everyone.

This Georgia Reads Day, visit your library, get a library card and discover the stories, resources and programs available in your community. When more Georgians have access to reading and learning, our entire state moves forward.

🎨✨ Graffiti Art in Action! ✨🎨 Our 3rd–5th grade artists got creative in art class as they explored the bold, colorful world of graffiti-inspired art! 🖌️💥 Students experimented with letters, shapes, colors, and designs to create their own unique pieces of artwork. We loved seeing their personalities and creativity shine through every “graffiti” masterpiece! 🌈🎨 Way to think outside the box, artists! 👏🖍️

📚 Georgia Reads Day is September 21st!

On September 21st Tift County will join other communities across Georgia celebrating Georgia Reads Day, kicking off Georgia Reads Week, September 21st – 25th.

Georgia Reads Day is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate literacy by sharing a simple, meaningful moment with a child, family member, student, neighbor, or friend. You do not need a special event, a classroom, or even a new book!

💬 A conversation is a literacy moment.
🎶 A song is a literacy moment.
📖 A story is a literacy moment.
📚 A trip to the library is a literacy moment.

Follow us on social media and throughout the week we will share literacy activities you can enjoy at home with your child. Every literacy moment helps build the skills, confidence, and curiosity children need to become lifelong learners.

Regular attendance is essential for student success. Tift County Schools works with families through a step-by-step attendance intervention process when students have unexcused absences, repeated tardies, or early check-outs. Please communicate with your child’s school when challenges arise so we can provide support before attendance concerns become more serious. Together, we can help every student stay present and on track!

We had such a special visit from former LLE teacher Jana Cromer as we celebrated Grandparents Day a little early! ❤️ Jana read Pete the Cat and Pigeon books to our class, including her own grandchildren. She also generously donated books to our classroom, brought delicious cookies, and surprised the children with Pete the Cat pencils. We are so thankful for her sweet visit and for sharing her love of reading with our class! ❤️

Our 2nd graders had a special visitor today! 💙🤍 Mayor Julie Smith joined us to talk about our local government and the many different jobs that help our community run smoothly. Students learned more about what a mayor does, how local government works, and the important roles people have in serving their community. 🇺🇸 A big THANK YOU to Mayor Smith for taking the time to share with our students and helping bring their learning to life! We loved having you visit! 👏📖
